My disappointment with the Veterans Affairs (VA) location that I recently visited. The staff at this location displayed a lack of empathy, professionalism, and respect for disabled veterans. The overall atmosphere of the location was old, dingy, dismissive, and rather standoffish.

I hope that this issue will be addressed and that the VA will take steps to improve the quality of care and services provided to disabled veterans.

BEWARE... Make sure you have 24 hour coverage if your loved one is staying there. The only saving grace was a nurse by the name of Deandre. He was kind and attentive. He and the surgeon are the only reason I am giving this place 2 stars. They typically have great surgeons, but it is the hospital aftercare that is TRASH... They don't clean up unless you call them in, they sit around playing games on the computer rather than tending to the patients. There was one other nurse aid. A heavy set African lady that was SUPER clean. The best nurse aide I have seen in a long time. The issue that I have is that these are veterans that protected this country and they should be treated as such. If you don't care about people, this should not be the place you work. They really need to tighten up on the people they have working there. Maybe incorporate additional training. Also, be sure that they assign you the RIGHT aftercare plan. Do your research because they don't know! Then they will send you home with nothing in place... 3 weeks later you will start physical therapy after a knee replacement...

My husband had biopsy for cancer rescheduled three times to three different dates. Today appointment was set at 7:30am and then reset to 9am and at 130pm we are still waiting. After being here all day and the delays and the emergency that came up to delay the procedure and despite the wait, the staff was awesome. Dr. Smith has stayed all the way through the recovery, never left my husband. The entire staff has gone above and beyond.
I'm gonna have to give today a 5 ? review

Good Friday, March 29th @ 12:16PM.

We had an amazing visit today in the VA Women’s Clinic. The staff is so efficient and helpful and informative.

Don’t allow anyone or anybody to whisper “poisonous” words into your ears about the staff at VA Hospital in Houston, TX. They are always on “freakin’” point.

For example: March 7th
1. Dr. Parizi was exceptionally gracious, respectful, and caring when explaining my diagnosis.
2. Morgan Adibi, Ultrasound Tech was awesomeness at it’s best.
3. Michelle Wilson, Mammogram was funny and caring.

Today’s visit: March 29th

I needed to be referred to a primary care physician so I can back to women’s clinic to be released (long story)

The staff again were super helpful and amazing even though it was super confusing ? to get what we needed. Even the staff in eligibility enrollment were supportive and the main lady (sorry didn’t get her name) was tentative and has an awesome understanding for listening to a problem then executing steps to solve (we thank you). Nice doctor lady along the way took the time to show us the right elevator (even walked us to it). Another lady, show us the right directions to red zone elevator.

Then when we came back to blue area, we
Were greeted again by women’s clinic staff and guess what ? they pleasantly received us again.

Now, we are waiting on doctor to review our request to help get us a new primary care physician.

All in all, our day is going good even if we have a couple of glitches ?

So in closing, nowhere else but TEXAS

Thank you, VA of Texas

I see a lot of negative reviews for the hospital but cant say I had the same experience. While I didn’t use valet parking (seems a lot of negative reviews come from that). I arrived around 0540 and had 0 issues finding and getting parking. The guard who watched the parking lot was polite and made my morning. I want to give a big thanks to everyone in the radiology department. They were all very nice and super helpful. From the front desk to the ultrasound and MRI tech. Got in and out super quick and super simple.

Absolutely amazing staff. Yes they are not initially the friendliest but you must understand they are dealing with many veterans that struggle with mental illness and are often rude and demanding. However, the care and the staff are people that are diligent and dedicated to their patients from the many many appointments I have had there including emergency room visits. Super grateful for this hospital!

4 hour wait for a colonoscopy scheduled at 11 am. Poor time management and I was told by one of the nurses that this is common. Never ever play with a person's time like that, as well as needing an escort to spend a whole day with you. Ridiculous listening to nurses talk about what they're watching on Netflix?
