my mom ported in September from Denver and we regret it so bad. They have not reviewed her file. She is elderly and disabled. They do not answer the emails and when you do call the receptionist just talk smart to you and has no customer service whatsoever. They keep saying that they will call you back they never call you back. They never email you back. I don’t get what’s going on with this Housing Authority at all.

This housing in Colorado Springs has been so unprofessional. I regret porting my section 8 here to Colorado Springs. They haven’t paid there portion of rent in 3 months going on 4 months. I’m about to be evicted with my 4 children cause they haven’t paid or even gone over my file. My renewal. I never have ever had to deal with this with any housing authority it has been so stressful. I would not recommend porting here. My case worker said she would go over my file so long ago but then tells me they are short staffed!? Like 3 months behind is just crazy. Then I never hear anything back from them anymore.

For the time I was on this assistance. I’m glad I am now finally off! Every 6mo I had to REPEATEDLY give OLD information that was/should’ve been in the system. I was almost taken off when I most needed it due to the case worker not knowing how to read a bank account number! Also, asking for proof of things that were 4-5 yrs old! How can I be a currently participant if I didn’t give that information. I was on top of everything they asked for. If you are one of the FEW chosen, know that E-MAILS are going to be your BEST FRIEND!

I do not take pride in leaving bad reviews on any company or agency, I rather leave positive reviews and with that being said, The Colorado Springs Housing Authority treated me badly with rude conduct and discrimination comments by the receptionist that worked there in 2023 just because i requested a reasonable accommodation form because she refused to answer basic questions. The Colorado Springs Housing Authority tries to do everything it can to stone wall you when you come in to ask questions. The receptionist from the start tells you that you can't speak to anyone and she does not know anything because she is a receptionist while a security guard stands near you waiting for any reason to kick you out of the building. I was treated like cancer with rude behavior and discrimination when the receptionist out of anger said under her breath, go sit your white A$$ down and shut the F up. The bad attitudes and the unwillingness to answer questions still occurs in 2024. So what are they doing with the section 8 money if they are making it hard to even sign up stone walling people. This agency miss handled the waiting list in 2007 and still is doing it today when they stone wall people from basic information.

The worse case Section 8 worker is Denene Gonzales! She made lose an apartment last November because she’s lazy!!! She doesn’t like answering emails, faxes nor calls. I ended my move packet signed and she didn’t. I’ve been waiting for her to sign another and the same is happening! Why is getting paid? I just filed a complaint! She needs to be fired. I’m requesting a new housing specialist. I’m not the only one complaining about her, there’s many who are not getting help from her!

They always claim they never receive your verification documents. I keep all my emails for this reason. I simply forward the emails I already sent and highlight the date of when I sent the items and although I received an apology, it's annoying to be accused of something and then threatened to lose your housing for THEIR mistakes. Thoroughly do your job and there wouldn't be an issue.
