The main concern of the housing authority office is the least unfortunate. If you have a place and can pay rent. Your request is not a priority. Good luck out there. And now I came to find out . Is taking about 5 months total to get a voucher. Thank you Karen bass!!! The homeless come 1st!! Then the paid citizen. Whom are paying high rent still in the program. Great nation we live in.

They’ll leave you stagnant and homeless because there employees are sick like there aren’t other people or supervisors that are suppose to step in when other employees can’t. Yeah this is the worse section housing department and they will treat you bad before ever thinking to treat like an actual human being. You would think since they remodeled the place they would have remolded how the employees and supervisors conduct themselves. They like the name of the position but no the actual job description. I have proof at that smh

When I try to contact these people buy phone I get put on a call back list when I get called back the same day it's usually 11 minutes after 4:00 p.m. which is their closing time at 4:00 I tried to stay on the phone but after 3 telepromps We are deferred over to "automatic call back". I have my phone set to ring at its maximum volume whenever HACLA returns the call it never seems to ring this has happened on more than five occasions. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I'm sure it's not my capabilities on my handheld device IE cell phone, as this has occurred with alternate devices besides the one I have currently.

This makes it impossible to address things that are marked "time-sensitive" material by the housing authority itself.

I encourage everyone who is experiencing the same problem to contact the city at their 311 help line.... You can ask them to contact " One Trust " in order o file a formal complaint.

I did receive a Section 8 interview for a certificate that is considered portable, I was denied Section 8 based on my general relief ( GR ) income which is a viable source of income with the Section 8 Certificate program. In a nutshell I was lied to. Buy a housing authority representative through the Section 8 program.

This housing department at Wilshire Blvd is a mess. Workers and advisors and even supervisors and customer service are not there to help people but ignoring people and let tenants struggle with their rent. I give you example of advisors who really has been ignoring me for the last few months just to adjust my income because my wife has lost her job. First was Octavio Jimenez, Daisy Herrera, Helen Damirgian and her supervisor Kossal Yang. Customer service telling me this is the protocol of their department. I hope Karen Bass who at the beginning was bragging about fixing housing come and see what is going on in this section 8 department.

HACLA is a busy office. It takes a long time to wait and get your questions answered. They are busy because they give good thorough service to their clients. As a landlord, I have received great service from the staff. Carla D. is a gem!! She listened and solved my issue and referred me to appropriate staff. Aurea M. and Mallika D. are great in solving landlord issues. I am grateful to the staff and wish them all well in everything they do for the community. Thank you!!

This organization is a mess. They do not properly educate their voucher holders on how the program works, they take way too long to process their files and it is impossible to reach anyone with any authority to make a difference. Meanwhile, the people they are supposed to be serving are without housing while they move at a snails pace through their red tape. It is beyond frustrating to deal with them.

Unethical case managers. Unprofessional. Attention needs to be brought to this issue. Paperless communication is also not okay.

Please file formal grievances to protect your housing rights.

You should have complete contact information for your case manager, grievance forms, and any documents that you sign should automatically be given to you.

OMG!!!!! Wow EVA HERNANDEZ was absolutely AMAZING! Thank the ALMIGHTY for her. HACLA is blessed to have an employee like her. She got me my very 1st apartment that I haven't had in years (almost 20 years since I've ever had my own place all to myself) I've been homeless and disabled for over 13years. My prayers were finally answered!!! I can't thank her enough for her professionalism and kindness. She is just an all around wonderful person. Also thanks to the HACLA employees (and former employee Christina who initially worked on my case) that I haven't had the pleasure of speaking with who worked diligently on my case. A Googillion Thank Yous!
