It took about 6 months for a medication to get approved despite the fact that I do need it, I have been on it previously with my other insurance, and the lower-tier meds simply do not work for me and haven’t worked since I was in my teens.

I had to go to my specialist several times to follow up trying figure out who is to blame and why it was taking so long. The trips to my doctor was about 2 hour trips each time meaning I had to take time off work to deal with this until I got my meds.

I have not had issues like this before with Washington’s health plans. I’m not sure it’s Providence or Oregon health plans itself. I maybe waited 2 months MAX for getting approvals for tough medications even with “crappy” insurance. Wild. I feel bad for the phone reps.

It is unfortunate that Providence decided to handle their own behavior health claims a few years ago. They are increadibly slow with processing reimbursment claims and it is a constant battle to get them to process claims correctly. I have been fighting with them for 8 months so far to get them to properly process and pay on a claim. Sadly, they used to be great. I will opt for different insurance coverage moving forward.

Just had back surgery and have been in extra pain. Doctor was fine upping my meds but when we try to get them insurance says it's too soon, that I have to wait till tomorrow to get them even though I'm slatted to run out at midnight. Try to call and of course can't get ahold of anybody ?

This is just another brick in the wall too, from denying my wife's her asthma meds to kicking my teen out of residential mental health treatment, all without offering an alternative and pushing against doctor recommendations.

At this point I'd rather be back on military healthcare

Horrible provider, avoid if possible

If it wasn’t for the pleasant lady,
Who answered the phone id be giving the bear minimum review…Been dealing with neck and shoulder pain….doctor recommended me to a number of physical therapists, none of which take providence…so I went to their website to choose someone specific. Unfortunately they don’t provide any information on the doctor, other than a picture(maybe), phone number and address, which makes me feel like I’m taking a shot in the dark with a doctor, with zero listed credentials or customer reviews. Am I supposed to just blindly choose a health care professional and hope for the best? Providence trying to monopolize the healthcare industry isn’t really working out for me…

This is horrible insurance. Very long lead times to get a first appointment with PC and other services. No one I meet with ever seems to have read the chart or know any health history despite it being supposedly on their “My Chart”. I’ve had Regence Blue Cross the last few years and will definitely be switching back.

Zip code search engine has issues, does not show providers if you don’t have the exact zip code where the provider is located. I spoke to PHP two days ago because I was trying to find a provider for my son who lives in another state and is covered under my insurance. I was unable to pull up any covered providers using his zip code, so I called to get some help. The first person I spoke to told me there weren’t any. They sent me over to someone else who was able to use a nearby zip code and find a provider. Thanks to her care and thoughtfulness, I was able to get an in-network provider for my son. However, it’s another disadvantage with health care in the U.S.A.— even paying customers cannot find a provider when they want one and have to jump through hoops just to do so.

I call to est relationship with a PCP and am told to call back at the first of the month. I feel like I'll have better luck with the lottery than getting an appointment.

The CPAP machine they gave me went bad in about 16 months. They have had it now for at least 3 plus weeks and they're telling me it's not going to be for another 4 to 6 weeks before I see it fixed. I called them about a loaner, they said they would call back, and they have not called back at all. This company does not engender all that much trust in their insurance or their ability to deliver the services they constantly talk about. I would be very leery of using them again and will most likely look for another firm in this coming year. One caveat is sad Oregon's taxes are driving insurance rates up along with a cost of just about everything else from Wheaties to gasoline to electrical power. The way Oregon is managed it is definitely not helping the medical system.
